Welcome to all EDS Members,

While I know this letter is a bit late, that is because The EDS Board has been hard at work trying to keep our society alive and well. In so doing, we built a curriculum that is geared towards quality education and comradery for both existing and new members alike. Eastern has always been about furthering the knowledge base of our members while at the same time creating mentorship opportunities between seasoned and younger dentists in a friendly and casual environment. As such, we have focused this year on bringing you contemporary lectures which we hope will inspire both the experienced and young clinician, bringing you new techniques and ideas and raising your scope of practice to new heights.

We will be having two all-day lectures this year. The first, on May 29th, will feature Dr. Kyle Stanley. Dr. Stanley, who is recognized as one of the best young lecturers in the country, will be speaking on his work with Dr. Christian Coachman on “Facial Flow”. This is a method of esthetic diagnosis and planning that we believe will make you see esthetics in a distinct and different way. The focus will be on how dental treatment can bring harmony to orofacial esthetics.
On September 25th, we will have Dr.Todd Snyder presenting “The Art of Esthetics and Occlusion” with a bonus presentation entitled: “Beautiful Smiles through Composite bonding”. Dr. Snyder created and co-directs a two year graduate program in Aesthetic and Cosmetic Restorative Dentistry at UCLA, the first of its kind.

Both are excellent speakers with tremendous credentials. Their lectures are meant for the entire team, so we encourage you to bring your staff.

Additionally, on November 11th, we will be holding one dine-around meeting at a fabulous restaurant in center city this year. This is an Eastern tradition where members meet to eat great food and have a few drinks together while at the same time getting a few CE credits on a timely topic. The speaker for this dine-around will be yours truly. I will spend the evening demystifying the planning of implant borne restorations. As we know, Implant restorations are not arbitrary, and their planning needs to start before surgery. I will discuss all aspects of the implant process, from planning to surgery and finally the restorative phase of treatment.

Dues for the year will remain at $225 and are due at this time. If you haven’t already done so, please send a check to Chuck Gemmi at your earliest convenience. Chuck's address is 2137 Welsh Rd.#1B, Phila., PA 19115. As a reminder, your dues will cover the two all-day lectures listed above so there is no additional fee to attend those meetings.

On behalf of the Eastern Dental Board, I would like to thank you for your past and future support. We hope to see you at our meetings this year.

Best,
Philip Fava II, DMD, MDSc
